How CallShield works
A plain-English walkthrough of what CallShield actually does โ from the moment your parent's phone rings to the alert on your phone.
Sign up in two minutes
You create a CallShield account at /auth/signup?plan=monthly from any browser โ no hardware to buy, no app to install on your parent's phone. Pick a plan, enter your email, set a password, and you are in. The whole thing takes about two minutes.
Add your parent's phone number
During onboarding, you enter the phone number of the parent you want to protect. CallShield then provisions a dedicated CallShield number that forwards to your parent's real phone. Your parent keeps their same device, their same phone number, and their same routine โ they just answer calls as usual.
Every call gets screened in real time
From the moment your parent's phone rings, CallShield is on the line. The AI listens during the opening seconds of the call, comparing the audio โ second by second, while the caller is still talking โ against known scam-script patterns, urgency cues, and caller-ID spoofing. If you have added a number to the Trusted Contacts whitelist, that call skips screening entirely: it rings straight through without delay or interruption.
You get the alert the moment risk crosses the threshold
The moment the AI's risk score crosses the threshold, two things happen at once: a Call Log entry appears in your caregiver dashboard with a captured transcript snippet, and you get an SMS to the phone number on file. That snippet gives you enough context to decide whether to call your parent immediately โ before they are pressured into buying gift cards, sharing a bank login, or wiring money. Here is what one of those alerts looks like in your dashboard:
